Stop Smoking News: Good News!

This article gives good news for people who have been diagnosed with early stage lung cancer. Did you know that your rate of survival doubles when you quit smoking? I know how frightening it is to be diagnosed with cancer. But don't give up. You can, according to this article in the news, reduce the chances of tumor recurrence when you give up smoking now. You can do it.

"Smokers who have been diagnosed with early stage lung cancer can double their survival rate by kicking the habit. A study was conducted which showed that only 29 to 33 percent of early lung cancer patients who continued to smoke lived longer than five years while 63 to 70 percent of subjects who quit smoking survived five years after being diagnosed.

The survival apparently comes from the reduced chances of tumor recurrence and not from improved heart and lung conditions."

It's not often Stop Smoking news is positive but this is - if you stop smoking and become a non-smoker now.

Stop Smoking News: The Best Thing To Improve Your Health

"The Canadian Cancer Society, NL Division society says quitting smoking is the best thing a person can do to improve their health and quality of life. Non-smokers have a much lower risk of getting dozens of smoking-related diseases like lung cancer, heart disease, and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, including emphysema and chronic bronchitis)."

Stop Smoking News: The REAL cost of Smoking:

"A new study has found that once you factor in health-care and early-death costs of smoking, each pack of cigarettes costs up to $150.

The study examined average lost wages, cost of health care, social costs, and the economic impacts of lost retail sales to determine the total cost of smoking per pack of cigarettes.

The study found that the average cost of a pack of cigarettes was higher for men than women, but this was largely due to a difference in average wages and a difference in the number of cigarettes an addicted smoker is likely to consume."

Stop Smoking News: China, it's time to stop!

About a million smokers die each year in China - and 100,000 people die from exposure to second-hand smoke. If these trends continue, deaths could reach 2 million in less than 10 years.

Part of this is because of poor labeling and poor education on the part of the government.

Lead researcher Geoffrey Fong from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, is quoted: "It is fundamentally wrong that consumers in many countries know about the content of the chocolate bars they eat, but know nothing about what is in the cigarettes they smoke."

And this becomes a global problem: "...high levels of heavy metals in Chinese cigarettes may constitute a potential global public health problem as exports of Chinese cigarettes continue to increase."

Educate yourself and don't become a statistic.

You can stop smoking and you can do it now. Check out our resources and become a non-smoker now.

China's sad story.

"A new international research project has found high levels of heavy metals in Chinese cigarettes, with some containing three times the level of lead, cadmium and arsenic of Canadian brands.

The International Tobacco Control Project, which brings together experts from 20 countries, released a series of 11 research studies that found China was endangering cigarette buyers at home and abroad by failing to implement stronger controls.

"All 13 Chinese cigarette brands tested were found...

This is a serious problem. You can eliminate this problem from your life - forever.

Stop Smoking in the News: Second Hand Smoke

Do you wonder if second hand smoke has an impact? Read here to see the difference these former smokers have made in the lives of their children by stopping smoking. Good for them!

"Babies and children are especially prone to suffering from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke because their lungs have not yet fully developed. In addition, because of their smaller lung size, they breathe more quickly, and take in more harmful chemicals for their size than adults do."

And if you think it's a small or minor issue, read on:

"...in Canada, the popularity of smoking has declined sharply. In fact, according to Health Canada, few countries around the world have achieved such a dramatic reduction in the number of smokers."

(Good for you, Canada!!)

"Still, smoking remains the single most preventable cause of premature death and disease in Canada. Every 11 minutes, a Canadian dies from tobacco use. This number represents more than five times the number of Canadians who die from traffic injuries, alcohol abuse, murder, and suicide combined."

Read the article for more information about stopping smoking and the effect on other, especially, children from second hand smoke.

Read about this study and the proof that stopping smoking helps those around you.

These stories are upsetting and hopeful. There's no doubt, smoking is a killer, sometimes of innocent bystanders. There's also no doubt, you can stop, you can do something about it. Remember, many doctors believe stopping smoking is the #1 way to improve your health.

There is help available to help you stop smoking. You can quit smoking. You can begin to live a smoke-free life. Like millions of others, you can become a non-smoker. I did it, you can, too.

Most clients come for hypnosis after they have spent a lot of time and money on products that don't work. Many times they say that they have tried again and again and they just can't do it. They often say, "You're my last hope."

Have you said those words? "I tried." "I can't do it."

"Trying" is not "doing". It is only trying. That's the message you are sending to your mind (your self hypnosis): Just try, not do it, but just try. Change that message to "I can stop smoking." and "I will become a non-smoker."

That's how hypnosis works. Simply change the message to your mind, change your habits.

In January 2009, he says, "I keep dreaming of a future, a future with a long and healthy life, not lived in the shadow of cancer but in the light," Swayze said. "You can bet that I'm going through hell. And I've only seen the beginning of it."
